Marian University has a possible Grammy Award winner on campus. The Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museumhave announced the quarter-finalists for the 2024 Music Educator Award, and Shawn Royer, Ph.D., Marian University's assistant professor of music and chair of the department, is one of 212 quarter-finalists for this year's award!
The Music Educator Award, which recognizes educators who have made a significant contribution and demonstrate a commitment to music education, recognizes current educators — kindergarten through college across public and private schools; the award also honors those who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools.
The quarter finalists, who hail from 197 cities, were selected from more than 2,000 initial submitted nominations. In addition to the quarter finalists, 123 legacy applicants from 2023 will also be eligible to win the Music Educator Award this year. Congratulations Dr. Royer!
