Marian University’s Sr. Norma Rocklage Franciscan Leadership Institute Announces New Full-Tuition Opportunity for San Damiano Scholars

Indianapolis, IN--Marian University’s Sr. Norma Rocklage Franciscan Leadership Institute is excited to unveil a transformative new initiative: the San Damiano Scholars Program will now offer 10 full-tuition opportunities to graduating high-school seniors. Additionally, to help strengthen the Church in Indiana, one opportunity is designated for each of Indiana’s five Catholic dioceses. This groundbreaking opportunity will begin in the 2025 academic year, empowering future leaders committed to serving the Church through lay ecclesial ministry.

In a move that redefines the program’s mission of shaping faith-filled leaders, Marian University will guarantee one full-tuition scholarship to a deserving student from each of Indiana’s Catholic dioceses. This initiative ensures statewide representation of talented young Catholics eager to make an impact in their communities and beyond.

“Our primary goal at the Sr. Norma Rocklage Franciscan Leadership Institute is to develop missionary disciples into scholars and leaders who can address real-world leadership challenges in the Church and society,” said Adam Setmeyer, Marian’s chief mission officer and director of the Rocklage Franciscan Leadership Institute.

“We are deeply committed to empowering students who want to make a difference in the world through their faith,” said Patrick Verhiley, executive director of the San Damiano Scholars Program “This initiative will eliminate financial obstacles for young people passionate about answering their call to rebuild the Church and society.”

Through the San Damiano Scholarship, students engage in rigorous theological and spiritual formation while participating in retreats, service learning, and building a close-knit, Eucharistic-centered community. These new scholarships will also allow Marian University to attract more mission-driven students committed to serving their parishes, communities, and the world.

Prospective students with strong academic potential, leadership skills, and a commitment to their faith are encouraged to apply by November 1, 2024, for the chance to receive this life-changing opportunity.
