Meet Owen Negron, a first-year student at Marian University’s Ancilla College. In a recent interview, Owen shared his journey from Loíza, Puerto Rico, and how he turned his dream of playing college baseball into reality.
Since arriving a few months ago, Owen has felt a strong sense of family here. He appreciates the supportive environment created by faculty and staff and has embraced campus life fully, participating in beach volleyball, cornhole, the esports lounge, and other activities. Owen has quickly made a home for himself, and he’s actively involved on campus, giving tours to prospective students and assisting in the Business Office.
Though he’s thriving in his new environment, Owen often reflects on his hometown and family. He’s studying exercise science with the goal of becoming a coach, inspired by his father, who coached him growing up, and by other mentors who made a lasting impact on him. He especially values Coach Bowen, who believed in him, showing consistent support through injuries and challenges.
Owen draws inspiration from Proverbs 16, reminding himself to trust in God, his rock and source of strength. He is excited to continue his journey at Marian University's Ancilla College and encourages others to believe in themselves. As Owen says, there’s always an opportunity to achieve your dreams—just as he did.
