Marian University has promoted Marisa Zambrano as the new Executive Director of Latino Leadership. Zambrano recently worked with Marian’s Pathways to Careers program supporting Latino students in recruitment, retention, and career development. With an impressive leadership and community engagement background, Marisa brings a wealth of experience to her role where she will work to support and empower Latino students and foster inclusive initiatives across the university.
Her other community service included an appointment to the YMCA’s Board of Directors for Greater Indianapolis in 2022 and as an education chair for Sister Cities through the Indianapolis Mayor's office. Her commitment to the arts and community service is reflected in her recent appointments to the boards of the Indy Shakespeare Theatre and the Mujeres Conectadas International Women’s Day Committee and she served as Project Manager for the Latino Artist Mentorship Program in collaboration with Arte Mexicano en Indiana. She was also a mentor for the AXIS Leadership program in collaboration with the Indiana Latino Expo since 2022.
Additionally, she has led educational initiatives as Chair for Mexico's Sister City Program for Indianapolis, fostering cross-cultural collaboration and learning.
"I am thrilled to join Marian University and work alongside dedicated faculty, staff, and students," Marisa said. "Together, we have a unique opportunity to build a more inclusive community, one that uplifts and supports the dreams of Latino leaders of tomorrow."
