Fourth-year osteopathic medical student Libby Mauk and Robert Dazé, DO ’18, board-certified dermatologist, have successfully published a case study titled “Acquired leukonychia with lichenoid papules,” which was accepted for publication in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology (JAAD Case Reports). The manuscript can be found at https://www.jaadcasereports.org/article/S2352-5126(24)00468-5/fulltext.
Their work discusses a unique case of amyopathic dermatomyositis—an autoimmune connective tissue disease—identified through nail and cuticle findings. The case explores specific management and treatment strategies, underscoring how systemic diseases can manifest through dermatologic symptoms.
Congratulations to these Shining Stars and keep up the great work!
