Since July 2024, Dr. Kwiatkowski has served as the university’s vice president for the Klipsch Educators College and Innovation in K–12 Education. She will continue in that role as dean.

Dr. Kwiatkowski, a seasoned leader in Indiana’s educational landscape, brings decades of experience across the K-12 continuum. Before joining Marian University, she served as chief executive officer of Muncie Community Schools, where she successfully led a comprehensive district turnaround. Her career also includes serving as chief of staff for the Indiana Department of Education, senior education advisor to Governor Eric Holcomb, and executive director of the Indiana State Board of Education. She began her career as a classroom teacher and went on to serve as a principal and assistant superintendent.

"Dr. Kwiatkowski's vision, passion for education, and thorough grasp to lead others, makes her uniquely qualified to magnify the strategic vision of the Fred S. Klipsch Educators College," says President Daniel J. Elsener. "She is the embodiment of what Marian looks for in a leader, carrying herself with great knowledge, approachability, and a leadership style that would make our foundresses, the Sisters of Oldenburg, very proud. I am reminded of one of my favorite bible verses from St. Luke, 6:40, 'The student is not above the teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.'  Dr. Kwiatkowski is an extraordinary example of how Marian will benefit from her leadership. And, as she leads, we will all learn from her…always moving forward.”

“Dr. Lee Ann Kwiatkowski has a track record of exceptional leadership in Indiana,” said Kenith C. Britt, Ph.D., chancellor and chief operating officer of Marian University. “Before joining Marian, she turned around a struggling school district, restoring both academic and financial stability. Dr. Kwiatkowski has left institutions stronger and more resilient in every role she has held. We are excited to see how her leadership will continue to elevate the Klipsch Educators College.”

Since arriving at Marian University, Dr. Kwiatkowski has spearheaded several strategic initiatives, including developing the new Indiana Institute for Literacy, a statewide resource to advance the Science of Reading. She has led efforts to secure funding for a new building to house the Klipsch Educators College and the Center for Vibrant Schools, expanded school partnerships across the state and region, and increased scholarship support for future educators.

“I am honored to serve as Vice President and Dean of the Klipsch Educators College,” said Dr. Kwiatkowski. “Working alongside such dedicated faculty, staff, and students is a privilege as we advance our mission of preparing transformative educators and leaders. Together, we’ll continue to innovate and inspire—shaping the future of education with a strong commitment to excellence, service, and meaningful impact.”

Dr. Kwiatkowski succeeds LaTonya Turner, Ph.D., who has served as dean since 2020. Under Dr. Turner’s leadership, the Klipsch Educators College achieved national recognition for excellence in teacher preparation. She was appointed to the U.S. Department of Education’s Midwest Regional Advisory Committee and was pivotal in developing Marian University’s partnership with Ivy Tech Community College. The Klipsch Educators College was selected most recently to host the National Center for Teacher Residencies’ annual convening.

Also under Dr. Turner’s leadership, Marian University’s Klipsch Educators College is widely recognized for its excellence in teacher preparation. It is ranked the top program in Indiana and one of only 48 nationwide to receive an A+ rating from the National Council on Teacher Quality for its exemplary instruction in the Science of Reading for elementary teacher candidates.

Binh Tran, Ph.D., chief academic officer for Marian University, praised Dr. Turner’s leadership during her tenure. “Dean Turner has been a tremendous leader for the Klipsch Educators College. Her academic leadership has been instrumental in advancing Klipsch’s mission, and she is beloved by her faculty and students. We have big shoes to fill.”

“Serving as Dean has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional career,” said Dr. Turner. “I have cherished the chance to work with a dedicated faculty, committed staff, and ambitious students. Together, we have advanced innovative programming, fostered partnerships, and nurtured a culture of excellence in education. I am deeply honored to have been part of this journey.”

Through its innovative programs and strategic outreach, Marian University has expanded its footprint in K-12 education. Notable initiatives include:

• City Connects serves nearly 20,000 K-12 students across Indiana and Ohio.
• The Indiana Literacy Institute trains more than 3,000 educators in research-based reading instruction.
• MU Prep, Marian’s innovative K–12 hybrid school.

Dr. Kwiatkowski will officially begin her tenure as dean following the conclusion of the 2024–25 academic year.
