Marian University proudly inducted two new members into the Clayton Family Circle of Honor during its 16th annual award dinner on April 23. This year’s honorees—J. Douglas Boles, president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and Tevin Lake ’15, co-owner and founder of T2 Sports Performance—were recognized for their outstanding contributions to athletics and their lasting impact on the Marian community.
Doug Boles has served as president of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation since 2013 and IndyCar since 2025. A dedicated supporter of Marian University, Boles oversees operations at the world-renowned racing venue and directs all major events, including the Indianapolis 500, INDYCAR Grand Prix, NASCAR Brickyard 400, IMSA TireRack.com Battle on the Bricks, and the Indy 8 Hour Sports Car Endurance Race. Under his leadership, the Speedway hosts more than 275 event days annually and continues to grow as a hub for innovation and community engagement. Boles graduated from Butler University and Indiana University’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law.
Tevin Lake ’15 is a former standout running back for Marian’s 2012 NAIA National Championship football team. Known for his leadership and athletic excellence, Lake helped propel the Knights to a 2014 conference championship and was named Mid-States Football Association Mideast Division Player of the Year twice. He surpassed 1,000 rushing yards in his senior season and remains one of the most decorated athletes in program history. Today, Lake leads T2 Sports Performance in South Bend, Indiana, where he lives with his wife, Ilyssa, and their three children.
Held at the Marian University Arena and Conference Center, the induction ceremony welcomed more than 600 guests and was emceed by JMV, host of 93.5/107.5 The Fan. The evening’s program featured student-athlete Daniel Marley delivering the invocation, senior Emma Lyons offering remarks, and Hayli Irvin concluding with the benediction.
Established in honor of Joseph Clayton (1949–2018) and his wife, Janet, the Clayton Family Circle of Honor celebrates individuals who exemplify the core values of Marian athletics—discipline, integrity, teamwork, and respect. The Claytons believed deeply in the transformative power of sport, and the Circle of Honor serves as a tribute to that vision, inspiring future generations of student-athletes to lead with character on and off the field.
