Colette Cline ’25 is a nursing major student at the Leighton School of Nursing, hailing from northern Indiana. Alongside her studies, Colette is deeply involved in the Marian University community as the Vice President of Knights for Life, a Marian ambassador, and a work-study student. Her time at Marian has been shaped by her faith, the support of her family, and the generosity of those who believe in the power of education and service. Upon graduation, she’ll be working in the Emergency Department at Franciscan in Indianapolis.
Reflecting on her time at Marian, Colette shared, "I didn’t expect to learn how generosity and being a steward of God’s gifts could truly change lives. Marian is unique—a place where strangers become acquaintances, acquaintances become friends, and friends become family. It’s a community full of professors, staff, peers, and donors, all working to help you succeed."
When choosing a college, Colette sought a place where she could both deepen her Catholic faith and pursue her dream of becoming a nurse. Marian University quickly became that place, not just for its academic excellence, but for the sense of belonging and support it provides. Her time at Marian has been enriched by the San Damiano Scholars Program, which has helped her grow in faith and build meaningful relationships with others. Through her nursing classes, Colette has gained confidence, honed her skills, and developed a profound desire to care for the whole person—body, mind, and soul.
One of the key reasons Colette chose Marian was the scholarship support she received. "I would be lying if I said finances weren’t a factor in my decision," Colette admits. "With five brothers and one sister, the expenses add up quickly. But thanks to the scholarships I received, Marian became an affordable option for me to pursue my passion for nursing."
Colette is deeply grateful for the scholarship support that has made her education possible. "I wouldn’t trade my Marian University experience for anything. I’m incredibly fortunate to have such a strong support system in my life—through the San Damiano Scholars Program, my classes, the friends I’ve made, and, most importantly, the generosity of donors. I’m eternally grateful for the foundation they’ve helped me build as I chase my dreams of becoming the nurse I aspire to be."
