Kenith C. Britt, Ph.D., senior vice president and dean of the newly-named Fred S. Klipsch Educators College, is among Indy’s "Best and Brightest.”
On Thursday, November 9, Dr. Britt received the 2017 Indy’s Best and Brightest Award in the category of “Education and Nonprofit.” Indy’s Best and Brightest Awards were created by Junior Achievement and honor central Indiana’s outstanding young professionals, age 40 and under, who are making their mark in Indianapolis.
Dr. Britt has been instrumental in the transformation and creation of Klipsch College since its launch in 2016. The college has become one of the best developers of educational talent in the United States, changing the narrative for teacher preparation in Indianapolis.
With the goal of attracting high quality students from diverse backgrounds with a passion for teaching, Dr. Britt has led the academic initiative that has been compared by Education Week to similar programs at Harvard University and New York University. The program features both bachelor’s and master’s degrees, substantial financial aid opportunities, enhanced curriculum, study abroad opportunities, and a pioneering, one-year clinical residency program within K-12 Catholic, charter, and public schools across the region.
Jonathan Lowery, Ph.D., assistant professor of physiology in the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM), was selected as a finalist for this year's awards. In 2016, Katie Gearlds, head women’s basketball coach, won an Indy’s Best and Brightest Award in the category of “Media, Entertainment, and Sports.”
