Transfer Credit

Transfer CreditMarian University accepts most 100-level or higher courses that were taken at a regionally accredited institution. To have a course considered, you must have earned a minimum of a C- or higher. Official transcripts for training programs and college credit exams are not required for admission; however, they may be submitted for credit evaluation. Examples include military documents, DD214, CLEP/DSST exams, and programs approved by the American Council on Education (ACE).

Earn Credit for What You Already Know

Marian University recognizes that adults have been gaining knowledge over their lifetime through current or previous employment, workforce training and seminars, community involvement, and personal development. There are two ways to earn alternative credit:

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) and DSST (formerly called DANTES) examinations give students an opportunity to earn college credit by successfully demonstrating proficiency in a variety of content areas.

This course teaches students how to demonstrate their prior learning by writing and submitting portfolios which will be assessed by Marian University faculty. Students will learn to create a portfolio which documents college-level learning.
We recommend that you discuss these options during the admission process. Examination and courses eligible for the portfolio process will vary for each program.
