Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, Fitness, and Wellness Degree

Why study nutrition, fitness, and wellness at Marian?

Much like physicians write prescriptions for certain types of medicine to treat illness and disease, proper nutrition and physical activity can be prescribed to improve human health and wellness.

Marian's bachelor's degree in nutrition, fitness, and wellness degree will prepare you for careers in which you'll coach, support, and guide people of all ages and backgrounds to modify their behavior to achieve and maintain optimal health.

  • As a graduate of our program, you will be prepared to promote and establish paths to making healthy choices across the human lifespan.
  • You'll have the knowledge and skills you need to assess personal health issues, create strategies to improve health, and provide general health and wellness advice and services.

What will you study?

The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, Fitness, and Wellness has a broad curriculum that is intentionally interdisciplinary. Your coursework will draw from fields like exercise science, physiology of exercise, public health, psychology, and sociology

The focus of your studies, however, will be behavioral modifications that lead to better health and disease prevention.

What are your career paths?

The growth in this field is driven, in large part, by efforts to improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare costs by educating individuals and groups about healthy behaviors.

In a January 2015 post, Time magazine reported on "The 5 Best Jobs You've Never Heard Of," ranking health and wellness educators at number four.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for health educators and community health workers is expected to grow by 16 percent through 2026, or much faster than average.

If your chosen career path requires that you earn a master's or doctoral degree, our curriculum will prepare you for admission to top graduate schools.

You can pursue employment in corporate wellness, private business settings, hospitals, nonprofit organizations, government agencies, physician offices, and schools, for example. Among the jobs you might pursue are:

  • Public health educator
