If you're pursuing a career in health or planning to continue into graduate studies, the Physiology of Exercise major is designed for you. This program builds a strong foundation in chemistry and advanced physiology, preparing you for rigorous professional and academic pathways.
You'll complete at least 20 credit hours in chemistry, including biochemistry. With this foundation, you'll dive into physiology and exercise physiology coursework at a depth comparable to graduate programs. Because of the chemistry-intensive curriculum, you may find this major challenging if you don’t have a strong background in mathematics and chemistry.
The Physiology of Exercise major closely aligns with the Exercise Science major, so you may want to explore both before making your decision.
As a graduate, you’ll be well-prepared for one of three common post-graduate tracks:
Since the program's inception, all graduates have successfully progressed toward professional or graduate degrees, a trend expected to continue.
* Advanced professional degree required
** Advanced graduate (M.S. or Ph.D.) required
