Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Sport Performance Degree

Why study sport performance at Marian?

If you're interested in sport-specific coaching, strength and conditioning, or allied health fields like athletic training and occupational therapy, the Sport Performance major is designed for you. With its strong academic foundation and hands-on learning, this is one of the most popular choices in our program.

Coursework & Hands-On Experience

You'll study human anatomy, physiology, movement science, and sport physiology while gaining extensive hands-on experience. This real-world application ensures you're prepared for a successful career in the field.

Overlap with Other Majors

The Sport Performance major closely aligns with the Nutrition Fitness Wellness program, so you may want to explore both before making your decision. There is also some career overlap with the Exercise Science major.

Career & Graduate Pathways

Graduates typically pursue one of two primary career tracks:

  • Sport-Specific Coaching
  • Strength & Conditioning Coaching (high schools, colleges, or private training settings)

Some students use this major as a foundation for graduate school, including:

  • Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT)
  • Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) (with careful elective selection)
