Diploma Information and Academic Honors

Diplomas

The Marian University diploma is a ceremonial document. The diploma only lists the name of the degree being earned (e.g. Bachelor of Science, Master of Arts, etc.). The diploma does not include the specific name of the program or major unless the degree title is one that includes the name of a program (e.g. Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Social Work, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, etc.). The Marian University transcript is the official record each student has with the university. The transcript includes all coursework attempted and any degrees, majors, minors, and specializations earned. Graduates earning a bachelor's degree who meet the criteria for academic honors will have these honors posted on both the diploma and the transcript.

Graduates will receive an e-mail from the Office of the Registrar approximately one month prior to their graduation date with the diploma availability timeline. Marian University has partnered with Parchment to provide access to your digital diploma and direct mailing of your paper diploma.

Within three weeks after the graduation date, provided that your account balance has been paid in full, you will receive an e-mail sent to your Marian University student e-mail address. This e-mail will contain information and instructions for claiming your digital diploma. Once you've used the link provided in your e-mail to create your Parchment digital credentials account, your Marian University diploma will always be accessible to you digitally. You can log in, then download or share it as many times as you wish—at no cost to you.

Digital diplomas are great tools as you pursue employment and professional opportunities. Any time that you need to verify you are a Marian University graduate who earned a degree on our campus you can:

  • Easily share your official university diploma with employers through a secure, verified link
  • Share your diploma on social media such as Facebook and LinkedIn
  • Download a secure PDF copy of your diploma
  • A digital diploma is an alternative to U.S. Department of State apostille requirements if you plan to live, work, or study in a foreign country. Many international organizations recognize and accept digital diplomas as documentation of your academic credentials.

Paper diplomas are mailed to the preferred address on record within three weeks after the digital diploma is issued. Account balances must be paid in full before the diploma can be mailed. When you receive your diploma, keep it in a safe place so you do not lose it. Marian University does not keep copies of diplomas.

If you have general questions about diplomas, e-mail regis@marian.edu. If you have questions about your digital diploma after you've graduated or received it, e-mail congratulations@parchment.com.
