Internships

We believe the experiential learning and professional development opportunities you will get from a student internship (are) an essential part of learning how to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom.

That’s why we require School of Business students to complete at least one summer or semester-based internship. But why stop there? Many of our students complete two or three internship placements earning a total of up to nine academic credits.

Our graduates complete internships in state government and nonprofit settings as well as in the corporate world at top employers like Salesforce, Cummins, Eli Lilly, Interactive Intelligence, Northwestern Mutual, Ernst & Young, Pacers Sports and Entertainment, Target, Geico, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, to name a few.

Thanks to a thriving, vibrant local economy, you'll have lots of internship options from which to choose. Staff in The Exchange, Marian University's career development office, can help you find and apply for internships.

What are your options?

Depending on your degree program, interests, and career goals, we’ll help you pursue internships that enable you to build a professional network and get great experience before you graduate.

Your academic advisor will help you develop internship plans, but some of your options include courses like these.

ACC 470: Accounting Internship

If you are pursuing the 150-credit program required to prepare for the CPA Exam, you can complete a 12-credit paid internship. This fully immersive semester-based internship is a full-time experience.

BUS 360: Internship in Business

Work in public or private business sectors in entry-level managerial roles related to your major area(s) of study. This can be a paid or unpaid internship. You’ll work a minimum of 60 hours for each credit earned. This is a three-credit internship that may be repeated in a subsequent semester for a total of six credits.

BUS 365: Internship in Not-for-Profit Organization

If you have junior or senior class standing, you can complete an internship in not-for-profit settings in which you work in a supervised entry-level position related to your major. This can be a paid or unpaid position and requires a 60-hour minimum of time worked for each academic credit earned.
