How to Apply to Nursing School

  • Applicants must first be admitted to Marian University.

  • Upon admission, students must meet academic requirements to become a pre-nursing student.
  • Students will make application to the clinical rotation and be ranked based on the Decision Tree.
  • Number of students accepted into clinical is based on availability of faculty resources and clinical sites.
  • Admission to all programs is competitive and based on the criteria below.

Traditional Track

Students must first meet the minimum admission requirements.

  • Marian University cumulative GPA of 2.8
  • Pre-requisite science GPA of 2.8
  • All science pre-requisite courses completed successfully (C+)
  • Achieve a grade of C or better in each of the general education courses completed
  • Application completed in full and submitted on time
  • Score at the 60th percentile or higher on the Kaplan Admission Test* (students may repeat the test one time after completion of remediation)
  • Acceptable score on the International English Language Testing System (test applies to students identified during the admission process)

Ranking for Admission

Eligible applicants will then be ranked according to the following:

  1. Out of sequence students currently enrolled in Marian University
  2. Wait-listed students who applied the previous semester but who were not awarded clinical placement based on space and still meet the minimum requirements for the current semester
  3. Students with initial coursework at Marian University
  4. Transfer students will be ranked according to the number of prerequisite science or nursing course credits taken at Marian University
