As the recruiter for the San Damiano Scholarship Program for Church Leadership, Patrick’s goal is to help high school students discover Marian University as the ideal environment for answering God’s call for their lives.

Patrick is originally from southern California, but grew up in South Bend, Indiana where he graduated from St. Joseph High School in 2003. As the oldest of seven children and the first to leave home to go to college, Patrick wanted to be sure he found a second home that shared the same values he grew up with—and he found that at Marian College. Upon graduating from Marian, Patrick taught in the religion department at Roncalli High School for seven years. During this time, he met his beautiful wife and God has blessed them with a family of their own.

After returning to his alma mater in 2014, he discovered that his Marian years blessed him with an incredible formation experience both in and out of the classroom because of the San Damiano Scholars Program. “I was transformed in ways I never expected, including how to think, pray, and, ultimately, how to discern God’s will for my life. Marian afforded me the opportunity to graduate with a degree in Catholic studies, while playing second base on the baseball team, leading my peers as a residence assistant, and even expanding my horizons by studying abroad in Ireland.”

To any young person considering Marian University’s San Damiano Scholarship Program, Patrick echoes the words of Pope John Paul II at his address to the youth in St. Louis in 1999.

"Each one of you belongs to Christ and Christ belongs to you. This is the time of your ‘training,’ of your physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development. But this does not mean that you can put off until later your meeting with Christ and your sharing in the Church’s mission. Even though you are young, the time for action is now! Be a light to the world!”
Pope John Paul II
