Would you like to improve your writing skills? Have you ever wished you could have someone review your big writing assignment before you need to turn it in to your instructor? MAP students, there are services available to help you. The Writing Center offers a free e-mail tutorial service to all students. To take advantage of this service, simply send an electronic copy of the paper needing review in Microsoft Word format, (version 2003 or later), as an e-mail attachment towritingcenter@marian.edu. In the body of your e-mail, include your name, class, date, course number and title, instructor’s name, assignment name, and a brief description of the assignment. All e-mails will be reviewed and replied to within two to three business days via a reply to your original e-mail. For this to work well students will need to be proactive, working ahead of deadlines as much as possible. Do you need face-to-face tutoring? During MAP terms 2 and 3 (September 27 through December 11) you may arrange one-on-one tutoring through the Writing Center. The center will be open Tuesday evenings from 5-8 p.m. and every other Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Writing Center, located in the basement of Clare Hall, provides a comfortable and casual learning place where the goal, according to Cliff Oldham, director of The Writing Center, is to help all students "frontload their success ." Walk-ins are welcome on a first-come, first-served basis, or you can call the Writing Center at 317.955.6244, from 9 a.m.- 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and 9 a.m.4 p.m. on Fridays to schedule an appointment.
