The Marian University Center for Organizational Ethics and the Semler Endowed Chair for Medical Ethics welcome Professor John Haldane, Ph.D., who will deliver a lecture entitled "Ethics, Philosophy, and Public Policy: Past Practice and Future Challenge."

John Haldane, Ph.D.Dr. Haldane is the 2013-14 Mary Ann Remick Senior Research Fellow at the Notre Dame Center for Ethics and Culture. He is a professor of philosophy and director of the Centre for Ethics, Philosophy and Public Affairs at the University of St. Andrews. He has held fellowships at the Universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Pittsburgh. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, chairman of the Royal Institute of Philosophy, consultor to the Pontifical Council for Culture, and a member of the Pontifical Academy of Thomas Aquinas. His research areas include history of philosophy; philosophy of mind; social and political philosophy, ethics, and aesthetics. Dr. Haldane's books include Atheism and Theism, An Intelligent Person's Guide to Religion, Faithful Reason: Essays Catholic and Philosophical, Reasonable Faith, and Seeking Meaning and Making Sense.
