First-Year Marian University Engineering Student Shines her Light on Scecina High School Students

by Glendal Jones | May 04, 2023

She's a Shining Star in her own right, and now her light is shining on others.  First-year E. S. Witchger School of Engineering Student and Marian University Soccer Athlete Silvia "Niky" Quezada ’26, served as guest speaker at Scecina High School’s Annual Athletic Awards Ceremony.

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis' The Criterion weekly newspaper featured Quezada '26 in a story about her faith in God, and Scecina High School administrators read it and contacted her.

Quezada '26 shared her testimony with Scecina's student-athletes and their families about her dream journey, which brought her from a bilingual home in Mexico to America, while explaining the importance of putting your trust in God and remaining committed to your goals, despite challenging obstacles. Quezada's story and example is what being a Marian University Shining Star is all about. Congratulations Niky!  You are are a remarkable example of Matthew 5:16. "Let your light shine, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father, which is in Heaven."
